PPO Serve is on the course to transform South African healthcare

Riedwaan Jabaar PPO Serve

Uninsured, expectant mothers can now gain affordable maternity care.

Riedwaan Jabaar (Class X: XSeed) is the Co-founder and COO of PPO Serve (Professional Provider Organisation Services). He is also the former Executive Committee Member and Head of Health Intelligence at Discovery Health.

PPO Serve is an integrated healthcare management company, with a vision of transforming the commercial healthcare system by competing on the right basis, to make healthcare more affordable for the South African population.

Currently, Riedwaan Jabaar’s company, PPO Serve (in collaboration with The Birthing Team) is helping deliver an all-inclusive, end-to-end maternity care in private hospital facilities, for uninsured women. The service plan which costs just under R20 000, aims to help expectant mothers (without medical cover) gain access to affordable, personalised maternity care. The predetermined fixed cost prevents unexpected fees and ensures that mothers-to-be won’t need to pay medical bills out of their own pockets.

Moreover, the fee includes all consultations, doctor visits, antenatal scans, blood tests, as well as the actual birth itself. The offering is currently made available at Netcare’s Rand Hospital in Hillbrow, Johannesburg. As part of the service, pregnancy and birth are overseen by medical teams made up of midwives, obstetricians and general practitioners.

The service has been hailed as the first of its kind and is expected to play a major, transformative role in the future of South African Healthcare.

Interested mothers should visit The Birthing Team’s Facebook page or call 011 484 0568 as early into their pregnancy as possible to book their first scan.
