The inaugural Africa Impact Forum was a great success.
Modelled on the Resnick Aspen Action Forum but designed specifically for the African context, the ALI Africa Impact Forum was initiated by the leadership of the Africa Leadership Initiative. This event brought together Fellows from ALI South Africa, ALI West Africa, ALI East Africa, ALI Mozambique, ALI Media, and the Young Africa Leadership Initiative (YALI).

Albie Sachs dialogue event
A timely conversation about the Constitution and land reform was an excellent and fully-subscribed start to the year’s Good Society Dialogue Series. In his comments, Justice Albie Sachs opened up avenues of new thinking for many of the Fellows.
Minister Zweli Mkhize
At the second of the Good Society Dialogue Series, addressed by Minister Zweli Mkhize – the Minister in charge of fixing the mess of the many shambolic municipalities countrywide – the Fellows came up with a proposal that addresses sewerage, which is a major headache for many municipalities, while creating job experience for engineering graduates.

Trevor Manuel event
The last of 2018’s Good Society Dialogue Series hosted former Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel. His talk, almost sad at times as he reflected on what had fallen into the gaps between the hopeful dawning of democracy, and the current era, also stressed the critical value of young leaders such as the ALI Fellows.
