“Wisdom is like a baobab tree; no one individual can embrace it.”
This African proverb rings true in the journey of Andrew Zaloumis (Class VI: Tshelela), whose legacy in conservation leadership continues to inspire across borders.
As the driving force behind iSimangaliso Wetland Park’s rise to UNESCO World Heritage status, Andrew set a benchmark for values-based stewardship and community-centred restoration in South Africa. Today, his vision extends to the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Reserve in Saudi Arabia, where he applies his expertise to one of the world’s most ambitious conservation initiatives.
Andrew’s journey reminds us that the reach of our Fellows extends far beyond borders—nurturing a Good Society wherever their path leads. At ALI SA, we celebrate leaders who turn vision into impact, inspiring others to do the same.
