Salome Sengani assumed leadership and/ or management roles in the banking, Development Finance, housing and SME sectors. Her work includes insights into the issues of the emerging markets through both operational and Board involvement in the Banks, Development and Development Finance Institutions in the public and private sectors. She has travelled extensively including locally and internationally.
She has 29 years of work experience in the financial sector. Fourteen of these years were spent in various management roles in banking, spanning from retail banking to corporate and merchant banking. The last 15 years were served in the Development finance sector. The scope of work experience in the last 15 years covered negotiating, approval and oversight of area-wide developments in the City of Johannesburg, affordable housing finance in South Africa and primarily agricultural production projects on the African continent, Latin America, India, South East Asia and Eastern Europe and SME lending as an executive team member and Board member of local and international companies respectively.
She has working experience as a bank manager, establishing and managing service areas for home loans, heading development financing and equity investment programmes and leading a Programme Management Office (PMO), and the financing of various business and personal products across the public, private and NPO sectors. She has keen interests and participates in programmes that enhance or support economic, and social development of people and their environments, whilst delivering sustainable financial value for the beneficiaries and key stakeholders.
Prior to joining the business world, she qualified as a general nursing sister and worked in the Renal and the Intensive Care Units respectively at the then, Ga-Rankuwa Hospital, now known as George Mkhari Hospital, gaining much insight about the Health Care environment and practices.
