This year, ALI SA introduces a concept called “Venture Workshops”, based on the McNulty Foundation model that, for the past 15 years, has been successfully aiding social ventures in need of support and funding. The successful implementation of its ventures impacts the ALI SA Fellowship as these projects positively impact society and address SA’s most pressing challenges. However, some Fellows’ ventures may have stalled for various reasons, and some ventures need revival and support. This is why ALI SA will start hosting a series of Venture Workshops in 2024 to provide a space for Fellows to gather and brainstorm ideas, share challenges and seek support to ensure their ventures’ successful implementation.
Fellows, don’t stall; we can help!
Contact the ALI SA team if your venture needs a workshop.
Don’t hesitate to contact the ALI SA team if you feel your venture could benefit from being presented at a Venture Workshop where you will be able to share your ideas for your venture in a structured format and receive feedback, additional ideas, potential collaboration and support from other fellows in the network.
You will need to submit your ventures by providing a summary of your project in a template provided by ALI SA, which provides an overview of your project, its potential, the challenges you are facing and your requests for assistance. Successful applications will result in a session facilitated by ALI SA. Fellow Ventures are bolstered through various means, including scholarships to attend convenings, storytelling, and amplification support.
The Venture Workshop application form includes the following questions:
- Applicant’s name, surname and regional fellowship
- Name and description of venture
- What is the societal impact of the venture?
- What challenges are you facing with your venture?
- Questions related to your venture where you require support
The purpose of the Venture Workshops is to:
- REVIVE ventures that have stalled or start new ventures
- DEEPEN the impact of current ventures that are currently operating
- SCALE and expand existing ventures for a broader impact
- SHARE ideas and challenges with Fellows and ask for support (technical, financial and other)
Therefore, the workshops aim to enable Fellows to participate in open dialogue and reflect on their personal leadership and venture challenges. They provide a safe, confidential space where ALI Fellows can give constructive feedback in a peer consulting format.
Please contact Sulu Dazana at sulungeka@ali.co.za if you are interested in submitting an application to profile your venture during a workshop session.
