From Decline to Possibility: Rethinking South Africa’s Future

ALI SA Fellow, Adi Enthoven

South Africa’s story over the past decade has often been told as one of inevitable decline, fraying institutions and fading hope. Yet voices from within business and civic leadership are beginning to ask a different question: what if the trend line is starting to bend in the right direction again and what would that mean for our shared future as a country and as a community of Fellows committed to ethical leadership and the Good Society?

In the thought-leadership lecture “After 10 years of decline, has South Africa turned the corner?”, Adi Enthoven offers a grounded, data-informed case for cautious optimism and a renewed sense of agency, inviting us to rethink not only the past 30 years but the possibilities that lie ahead.

Adi is an ALI SA Fellow of Class II: Kilimanjaro and was previously Chairman of ALI SA for a number of years.
