
Nomkhosi Peter is a driven and innovative strategist whose experience spans over twenty years in strategy development, performance monitoring and evaluation, intellectual property and technology development and transfer, policy formulation, operations management, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. She is currently employed as a Chief Director responsible for strategy and organisational performance at the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) within The Presidency.
In 2023, she served as the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Media Development and Diversity Agency at a time when the agency celebrated 20 years of its existence. Prior to that she was with the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, during which time she was part of the team that drafted the Intellectual Property Rights from Publicly Financed Act and facilitated the establishment of the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO). She also worked on the establishment of the Technology Innovation Agency through a merger of seven separate entities that were under the department.
As an ardent scholar, her qualifications include a B.Sc in Biotechnology from the University of the Western Cape, an MSc in Bioethics and Health Law from Wits University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Compliance from the University of Johannesburg and an MPhil in Corporate Strategy from the Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria, coupled with several short courses and certificates.
She has a keen interest in leadership and is seeking to pursue a PhD in that field with the Albert Luthuli Leadership Institute at the University of Pretoria from 2026 (submission underway).
Nomkhosi finds pleasure in reading, dancing with her two daughters, walking and cooking hearty meals.
