Lisa Adams

Founder & Global Technology Director at Citizen Code

Lisa Adams is a social impact technologist, systems leader and public voice on Technology for Impact, with over 15 years’ experience building digital systems that tackle gender justice, youth development, digital health, humanitarian response, cultural heritage and economic inclusion. She is known for technology that operates at population scale while remaining grounded in lived experience, cultural context and ethical responsibility.

For more than a decade she has worked with Girl Effect, leading large-scale platforms that reach millions of adolescent girls across Africa and Asia to support sexual and reproductive health, mental well-being, education and economic empowerment. She also advises UNICEF’s Child Protection Unit on technology for gender-based violence prevention and response, including Lahaa, a multi-country, trauma‑informed platform for survivors and frontline responders.

Lisa founded Citizen Code, a women‑led African technology hub that builds accessible, culturally grounded digital products and partners with institutions and governments to close gender gaps in technology and democratise access. She also works with the District Six Museum on digital heritage initiatives and serves on the Advisory Board of Games for Change Africa, advancing the use of games and immersive media for social change.

A sought‑after speaker on technology, equity and access, she has contributed to national and global policy forums, including the first South African National Dialogue, the 2025 Budget Vote strategy process for the Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities and the Official W20 Summit South Africa.
