Namhla Mniki is a sustainability catalyst, seasoned policy advisor and global leader renowned for her expertise in sustainable development, poverty eradication and gender transformation.
She serves as the Deputy Director General and technical lead within the Private Office of the President of the Republic of South Africa, leading special programmes on women’s economic empowerment and poverty eradication. She is also the Co-Chair of the Women’s Economic Assembly launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2021.
She has played key roles in global initiatives such as the development of the Sustainable Development Goals, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the review of Germany’s Sustainable Development Strategy as a member of the International Peer Review Group. She was the Director of African Monitor for 9 years, where she spearheaded citizen-centric development policies and new methodologies to implement and monitor the SDGs.
Ms Mniki actively supports CEOs and their organisations to embed sustainability into their leadership legacies. She is a trained development economist with an MBA from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa. She also serves as an associate of the Allan Gray Centre for Value Based Leadership and is the Convener of the highly successful Open SDG Club Symposium South Africa.
