Akhona has spent the past 13 years as shareholder-executive building a marketing procurement services business across Africa and the Middle-East, helping to take it from its start-up roots in South Africa to a group present in 15 territories across the region, with 300+ employees and nearly R2bn of turnover. Her role spans the legal, compliance, administration, HR, diversity and governance portfolios, many of which she built from scratch.
She has a B.Tech (Logistics & Economics) from Tshwane University and graduated Cum Laude as a Paralegal at the SA Institute of Paralegal Studies. She has completed the Nexus Leadership Programme, Women in Leadership Programme (Gordon Institute for Business Science) and the SIDAR Advanced Directorship Program. Her early career was in logistics at the Imperial Group and Brandhouse Beverages, and for a time she was the Chief Operating Officer and 2IC to the Team Principal of the then Team Dimension Data professional cycling team.
Akhona makes time to keep connected to her roots in KZN while juggling the joys of being a long distance runner, a barista and lover of cars and cattle.
