Nwabisa Makunga is the Editor of the Sowetan. She is a former Editor-in-Chief of The Herald and Weekend Post and former news editor of Business Day. A journalist for 20 years, Makunga has extensively covered SA’s political economy and has significant experience in media management and digital newsroom transformation.
Makunga is a regular commentator on SA and international broadcast media platforms. She is also a regular training facilitator and a jury member of KAS, Media Africa’s Local Journalism Award honouring excellent journalistic work on the continent.
Makunga is the deputy chairperson of the South African National Editors Forum, a member of the SA Press Council and a board member of the World Editors Forum.
