Azola is a financial services executive and social entrepreneur. She is currently the CEO of the National Housing Finance Corporation.
Previously (2019) Azola was Chief Executive of Sanlam Investment Management and was also a member of the Sanlam Investments EXCO. She started her career at Alexander Forbes as an asset consultant and served as Deputy President of ABSIP responsible for transformation in the financial services sector. Azola spent a brief stint at Africa Vukani Investment Management Services where she drafted the company’s member education curriculum and registered it successfully with INSETA (Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority). Before joining Sanlam, she worked at Vunani Fund Managers as Executive Director and Head of Business Development. There she chaired the Vunani Foundation tasked with rolling out the Group’s CSI activity.
Azola is the Deputy Chairman of the Human Resources Development Council of South Africa. She recently got appointed on a 3 year assignment as a mentor to PhD Scholars funded by the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation based in Montreal, Canada.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Science (Finance Honours), an MA (International Business) and an MBA (International Business & Management). She is an IWF (International Women’s Forum) Fellow on the back of completing a 1 year leadership programme under the auspices of the IWF Leadership Foundation in partnership with the Harvard Business School and Insead.
Azola is Co-chairman of the Lululab Foundation (NPO focused on creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for unemployed youth), and serves on the boards of the Afrika Tikkun Foundation, Betapoint and Creation Capital.
