Itumeleng is co-founder and chief executive officer of Sphere Holdings, an investment company invested in industrial services, software services and education. Sphere’s industrial and B2B services sector strategy revolves around establishing a portfolio of investments that supply mission-critical goods and services to the energy, transportation, telecoms, financial services and education sectors.
Before founding Sphere, Itumeleng spent several years in investment banking and worked at Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and Citi in Johannesburg and London.
He served on the board of directors of Telkom SA Limited from 2011 to 2018 and is currently an independent non-executive director at Old Mutual Limited.
He is passionate about education and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Student Sponsorship Programme and has also served on the Board of Trustees of the African Leadership Academy.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town, a Diploma in Financial Markets and Instruments from the University of Johannesburg. He is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa).
Itumeleng is married to Charmeela, and together they have a son, Tau-Sachin.
