Ismail Dockrat is currently the COO of TOTAI, a leading distributor of LP gas appliances in Southern Africa.
He worked at the CSIR, DOCPRINT, ARMSCOR and the DTIC before being appointed the CEO of WESGRO in 2003. He went on to being a divisional CEO at DENEL until 2019, completings stints in the aviation, aerostructures, maritime and land systems divisions. Ismail holds qualifications in electronics engineering and programme management, and completed his MBA at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.
Ismail is a Sainsbury Management Fellow. He was awarded South Africa’s Boss of the Year title in 2005. He was a member of the Young President’s Organisation (YPO). He completed the Prince of Wales’s Business and Sustainability Programme. He has travelled extensively throughout the world. Ismail’s current interests lie in new energy and the energy transition. He is a Fellow of the third class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
