ALI SA’s Class XV: Khawuleza gathered on 4-9 September 2025, at the picturesque Spier Wine Farm for their second seminar, known as the Aspen Seminar. The event proved to be an inspiring week filled with dynamic sessions, insightful dialogue and rich engagement among Fellows.
A standout moment of the seminar was Class XV’s compelling performance of Sophocles’ classic play Antigone. This theatrical presentation revealed remarkable talent and creativity, as Fellows delved deeply into themes of justice, courage and resistance—core values that resonate strongly within leadership and service.

The rendition captivated the audience, including several ALI alumni Fellows who were present to witness the powerful delivery. The moderators noted with a touch of humour that every class claims to deliver the “best performance” and this particular portrayal earned praise for its nuanced interpretation and heartfelt expression utilising very South African scenarios.
The Aspen Seminar affirmed Class XV’s ability to explore complex ideas through innovative and creative approaches. The next seminar, “Leading in a Global Context” marks a meaningful chapter in their leadership journey, as they continue to engage with global themes and contemporary challenges. Class 15 will be travelling to Hong Kong, Dubai, Guatemala and Stellenbosch for their Globalisation seminar in January – March 2026.
