It is our privilege to welcome you to the inaugural ALI Africa Impact Forum. This event will be held at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, and will commence on the evening of Thursday 1 March and end on the afternoon of Sunday 4 March 2018.
The founding of the Africa Leadership Initiative was predicated on the strong belief that Africa’s future lies in the investment and development of high-integrity effective and enlightened African leaders. Over the past fifteen years, we have graduated over four hundred and fifty such leaders from Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Uganda. The ALI Africa Impact Forum is designed to more tightly weave the existing national and regional networks of the Africa Leadership Initiative into an Africa-wide community of ethical and public-minded leaders committed to the common good.
With this event, we specifically aim to create a collective vision around values-based leadership and focus the African leadership agenda. In these turbulent global times, how do we lead from the front and ensure that we are proactive and not reactive in setting the Africa Agenda? This question, brings us to the theme of the 2018 ALI Africa Impact Forum:
The Great Africa Re-Set.
The world seems to be shifting on its very axis. Surprise decisions by voters across the globe, new views on trade and the world order changing. Global economic, political, and ecological systems are failing. How do we as Africans ensure that we are in control of our agenda and not on the receiving end of these global shifts? Poor leadership and lack of government capacity and resultant conflict and corruption are Africa’s continued challenge. How do we ensure that our political, business and civil society leaders are acting in the best interests of our continent? How do we build on our own success stories? How do we ensure we are pioneering new political, economic and ecological systems that work for our continent? How do we as leaders recalibrate? If ever there was a time for courageous, enlightened leadership – it is now. This is the time for The Great Africa Re-Set.
Join us as we come together as African leaders to forge an impact that will leave Africa better for all.
It is our hope that you will venture with us as we collectively commit to improve, derive inspiration and continue to learn and grow.
