Janade du Plessis is an investment banker at Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) within the corporate finance division and part of RMB’s ‘Class Of’ network. He is the founder of Abrazo Capital, a social private equity firm that invests in businesses with strong financial and social returns that are developing market-based products and services that make a positive difference for people, the environment, and/or society. Janade is also an executive coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). In this role he helps young, black entrepreneurs establish and achieve goals in their personal and professional life. While living abroad, Janade started a charity, We Care, which helps expat-South Africans engage in community service projects by linking them to charities focused on children and the elderly. Participants support the charities by providing financial donations, clothing, and other necessary resources. Janade completed his undergraduate degree at the University of the Western Cape and his postgraduate degree at the University Of Cape Town Graduate School Of Business. He is currently pursuing a PhD, researching community-based investment structures and social private equity within emerging markets. Janade is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
