About COPESSA
COPESSA is an award winning nonprofit organisation, founded by Dr Nobs Mwanda (Class 4, Khalipa). COPESSA focuses its efforts on preventing child abuse before it happens; this is referred to as primary prevention. In cases where prevention is not successful we do our best to alleviate the effects, this is referred to as secondary prevention. The organisation was founded in 2000 as Zamokuhle Child Abuse Centre and later renamed to COPESSA in 2004. COPESSA runs a centre in Soweto where they offer clinical services (counselling, medical tests, support groups etc.) to victims of child abuse.
