Olebogeng “Lebo” Thubisi

Deputy CEO at Abax Investments

Lebo Thubisi is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Abax Investments, having joined the firm in January 2025. Abax was established in 2003 and currently manages more than R100bn on behalf of institutional and retail investors. In this role, he partners with the CEO and investment team to drive strategic growth, enhance operational excellence and deepen client relationships. He also champions people development, responsible investing, transformation and innovation across the business.

Previously, Lebo was Joint Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Alexander Forbes Investments, where he led the development of traditional and alternative (hedge funds and private markets) investment capabilities.
His career spans over 19 years in financial services, beginning as a graduate trainee at JP Morgan. He later held roles at Brait Ltd, where he specialised as a Risk and Manager Research Analyst focused on hedge funds and then at Investment Solutions Ltd (now Alexander Forbes Investments), where he rose to lead Manager Research. In that role, he managed a team of analysts across traditional and alternative assets and helped ensure the integrity and alignment of manager selection with client outcomes.

A strong advocate for industry transformation, Lebo played a leading role in shaping the Alexander Forbes Investments Transformation Policy and has served on several governance committees, including as a Non-Executive Director of SAVCA (Southern Africa Venture Capital and Private Equity Association).
He holds a Bachelor of Business Science with majors in Finance and Economics from the University of Cape Town and completed the General Management Programme (GMP) at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
