Busisiwe Mavuso

CEO at Business Leadership South Africa

Busisiwe Mavuso is a Chartered Accountant accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA – UK). She holds two Master’s degrees: a Master of Philosophy in Applied Business Leadership and Management from UCAM (Spain) and a Master of Business Leadership from UNISA. She also holds a Postgraduate Qualification in Management from GIBS and a Bachelor of Accounting Science (B.Compt) from UNISA and is currently pursuing a PhD.

Busisiwe is the Chief Executive Officer of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA), where she champions ethical leadership and economic growth. She serves as a Non-Executive Director at the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, Rainbow Chicken, Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA) and Resultant Finance. She is involved in the Local Government Ethical Leadership Initiative and the Council of Social Justice Champions (COSOC), and she is also an Associate of the Allan Gray Centre at the University of Cape Town. She is a member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA), ACCA and the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

Her leadership has been recognized with awards such as the Influencer of Influencers Award (Africa Brand Summit, 2020), Runner-Up Business Leader of the Year (Future Leaders Forum, 2024) and the Future Leader Award (BPI Iconic Leadership and Excellence Awards Foundation, 2025). Most recently, she received acknowledgement from Business Explainer in December 2025 for Policy Shaper of the Year. Her career reflects a deep commitment to ethical leadership, social justice and advancing South Africa’s economic development.
